Planning the Mahe Visit from Stowe, Vermont
It’s a beautiful, sunny day in Vermont with 80-degree temperature and a light breeze. I have to get used to translating Fahrenheit into Celsius so the equivalent temperature in New Delhi would be 27 degrees Celsius. The formula will test my math skills! [(80°F − 32) × 5/9 = 26.667°C].
With a nine-and-a-half hour time difference, Rathnakaran stays up until 10:30 p.m. to connect with our 11:00 a.m. DST call. It will be easier next week to connect when we’re in New Delhi.
My neighbor’s deck has a great view of the Worcester Range and a much better WiFi signal for the What’s App conference call with Rathnakaran in Mahe and Gerald in Indiana, PA. Thanks to Stella and Tom for the use of their network!
Rathnakaran, Gerald, and I put the finishing touches on our Mahe itinerary. We looked at hotels, plans for our travels, the teaching we will do, and the people we will meet. We’re traveling to Wyanand and Rathnakaran has plans for us to explore Pookode Lake, Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, Banasura Sagar Dam, and an Ecotourism boat ride.
Much of our teaching work will be at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mahe school, where Rathnakaran is the principal. We’ll meet district administrators, teachers, and students. Gerald and I will have opportunities to teach or co-teach classes at the school. We’ll also visit (and teach) at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Wayanad. And we’ll make presentations about our work in the U.S.
